About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Highways team at Galliford Try. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering our infrastructure projects and frameworks, working closely with our clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the site engineering team, ensuring that all works are carried out to the highest standards and in accordance with the Specification Highways Works (SHW), Project Works Information, and drawings.
  • Coordinate and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their development and growth within the company.
  • Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment, ensuring that all site personnel are aware of and adhere to health and safety protocols.
  • Assist the Site Agent in planning and coordinating the project and resources, ensuring that all works are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate subcontractors to ensure they achieve programme outputs, and manage the site engineering team to ensure that all works are carried out to the highest standards.
  • Write, review, and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring that all works are carried out safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage snagging systems, ensuring that all snags are recorded and cleared in a timely manner, and notify the commercial team and subcontractors accordingly.
  • Control and minimize waste on site, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Identify and assist in introducing new processes, techniques, and innovations on site, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of industry best practices.

About You:

  • You will have a strong background in civil engineering, with experience in highways, rail, water, or aviation.
  • You will have proven leadership and delegation skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of engineers.
  • You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • You will have a strong understanding of health and safety protocols, with the ability to create and maintain a safe working environment.
  • You will have a strong understanding of project management principles, with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
