About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic and expanding team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding speech and language therapy care in the acute hospital setting.

As a specialist in the field of stroke and rehabilitation, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with complex communication and swallowing needs. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans, and provide leadership and guidance to junior staff members.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive and inclusive environment, with excellent training and development opportunities, as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system. You will be welcomed into a large and dynamic therapy team, with the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess and treat patients with complex communication and swallowing needs
  2. Develop and implement effective treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  3. Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff members
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
  5. Participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • A Health Professions Council Licence to Practice
  • Registration with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Relevant postgraduate experience in key specialist areas
  • Advanced knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
