Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing specialist input to patients with voice, swallowing, and communication difficulties due to head and neck cancer or oncological conditions.

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to assess and manage patients with complex needs, utilizing your expertise in FEES, VFS, and SVR assessments. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and managing patients with swallowing, communication, and voice disorders due to head and neck cancer
  • Working towards utilizing specialist assessments and modalities such as FEES, VFS, and SVR
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team clinics, including radiotherapy
  • Service development and audit
  • Training of junior colleagues and students

Person Specification
  • BSc or recognized MSc degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
  • Experience of working within an adult inpatient setting
  • Experience of working independently with adult dysphagia caseload
