Job Title: Community Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Perinatal Mental Health Team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to expectant and new mothers with severe and complex mental health needs.

About the Role

As a Community Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering care to individuals with perinatal mental health needs, working closely with other healthcare professionals and agencies to ensure seamless care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage complex caseloads, including specialist assessment, care planning, and evaluation of individual treatment plans.
  • Participate in the setting of quality standards, auditing, monitoring, and reviewing practice in line with current clinical guidance and policy.
  • Administer medication, complying with relevant Trust procedures and NMC Guidance.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care, including pharmacological and psychologically informed interventions.
  • Deliver a range of interventions, including risk assessments and risk management plans, to promote positive risk-taking and improve quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recording and maintenance of information systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Registered mental health Nurse or Occupational Therapist qualification.
  • Post-registration experience, evidence of formal courses and training at diploma/degree level.
  • Leadership qualification, BSc degree in nursing/social work/occupational therapy or equivalent level, and qualification in providing supervision, coaching, and non-medical prescribing.
  • Experience of working with adults experiencing mental health-related difficulties, including perinatal mental health needs, and knowledge of demographic risk factors for this client group.
  • Experience of working in community settings, making decisions autonomously, and integrating care delivery across multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams.
  • Ability to work to agreed Quality Standards, including CQUINS, CQC, MONITOR, NHSLA, and NHS OUTCOMES.
