About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic midwife to join our Maternity Education Team as the Practice Development Midwife. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and culturally astute environment that puts birthing people at the centre of high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the professional development programme for midwives, collaborating with the Lewisham site PDM, Head of Midwifery, and Senior Midwives.
  • Deliver and facilitate a programme of mandatory training for midwives, working with specialist speakers and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Support the Senior Midwifery team in coordinating an environment of lifelong learning for midwives and staff, and provide clinical practice support.
  • Develop Training Needs Analysis in response to service, Trust, and wider organisational needs.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF) in training and skills development for midwives and preceptee midwives.
Person Specification
  • Registered Midwife with a minimum of five years post-qualification experience.
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding environment, implement audit/research recommendations, and evidence involvement in change management.
  • Excellent clinical record, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to demonstrate imaginative and effective use of resources.
  • Diplomacy and negotiation skills, with the ability to deal with conflict in a non-confrontational manner.
  • Enthusiasm for the role and continued professional development.
