Commercial Finance Manager Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Finance Manager to join our team at Ascot Racecourse. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing insight-driven reporting and supporting the Senior Finance Manager in leading the financial operations and processes for all Ascot operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist SFM in leading the financial operations and processes for all Ascot operations and guide department heads on financial results, KPI management, reporting, and analysis.
  • Support and influence key operational decisions, take detailed analysis, and make it presentable for both segment review and in-house team review and analysis.
  • Form productive and proactive relationships with the operational heads of department to help embed a stronger commercial focus, support, and ensure budgets and forecasts are robust and owned.
  • Ensure all team members work in a safe environment.
  • Support HOD's & the business in Cost Management through careful planning pre-raceday & key analytics post-raceday.
  • Operational team support of costs/P&L.
  • Assist SFM in driving commercial analytics providing key commentary and variance analysis of monthly P&l & balance sheet movements.
  • Ownership of timely and accurate billing across various segments including Fine Dining, Boxes, Agreed Price.
  • Ownership of timely and accurate journal postings of various expenditure across various segments including Fine Dining, Boxes, Agreed Price.
  • Support the team to resolve any sales or purchase ledger queries that may arise.
  • Support Raceday events including pre-race day planning, race day operational support, and post-raceday financial closure.

Requirements

  • An accountancy qualification (part Qualified accountant, towards the end of finishing their studies).
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills with experience in management accounts and reporting developments.
  • Desirable to have good working knowledge of SAP or other primary accounting systems.
  • Experience in operational and financial controls and continuous improvement.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of a high-volume hospitality/restaurant/F&B environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership of team members.
  • Clearly identifiable influencing skills.
