About the Role

Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Specialist to join our IT Security Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of our IT systems and data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Security: Conduct security investigations, respond to security incidents, and continuously improve our security posture.
  • Security Operations: Work with various tooling and services from Microsoft and other vendors to ensure the security and integrity of our IT systems.
  • Security Governance: Develop and document security processes and procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Build relationships and work with other teams across the Council to ensure effective security practices and procedures.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security Specialist who has a good knowledge of the rules and regulations that apply to the public sector. You should have experience in Cyber Security, Governance, Risk, and Compliance, and be able to explain and discuss highly technical concepts, risks, and solutions with a variety of stakeholders.

Desirable Experience
  • SIEM Platform Experience: Experience with a SIEM platform, preferably Level Blue (formerly known as Alien Vault).
  • Endpoint Detection and Response: Experience with managing and operating Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) platforms, preferably Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).
  • Vulnerability Management: Experience with vulnerability management processes and tooling, preferably Nessus.
  • Public Cloud Solutions: Experience with public cloud solutions, preferably Microsoft Azure.
