This role is based near the Stevenage site, which plays a key part in missiles operations. The site offers excellent transportation links.


Job Summary:


We are seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join our certification team at the Bolton site. The successful candidate will be responsible for authorizing products in accordance with the product certification procedure.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Certify products by following the product certification procedure and monitoring operators responsible for product certification.
  • Inspect for proper assembly and check all parts for defects in finishing, painting, or surface deterioration.
  • Conduct thorough inspections for any physical damages and perform intermediate inspection checks unrelated to product certification.
  • Complete manufacturing data pack paperwork and maintain data records and defect reports.
  • Control defect items by segregating them from good products and producing relevant inspection and quality control documentation, history sheets, and audits.
  • Care for and use specialized inspection tools, ensuring compliance with all applicable manufacturing procedures and meeting inspection times.

Requirements:



  • A minimum of several years' experience as a skilled person.
  • Experience inspecting the work of others for sign off.
  • Vocational qualifications such as 'Approved Apprenticeship/Apprenticeship Framework/Modern Apprenticeship', 'Vocational G or H Units with Further Education, City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3' or 'Vocational NVQ3 with Further Education, BTEC ONC/HNC'. IPC 610 certified / trained preferred.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and commitment to work as part of a team to deliver the business.

Security Clearance:


The successful candidate must be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. They will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) after the offer stage.


Benefits:


This role is eligible for up to £1,600 per month towards accommodation if you do not live within 30 miles from Stevenage. Full apprenticeship required.
