SEMH Support Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 3 with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 3, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Implement strategies to manage and support challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to tailor learning activities to the child's needs.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing relationship to build the child's confidence and social skills.
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, adapting support strategies as necessary.
  • Promote inclusion and help the child to integrate with their peers.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in supporting children with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
