Associate Director - Transport Planner

Job Title: Associate Director - Transport Planner

Location: London

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading consultancy with a strong presence in London, working on a variety of interesting projects for clients in the private and public sectors. As an Associate Director - Transport Planner, you will take individual responsibility for projects, manage them, and be the client's main point of contact. You will instruct, supervise, and mentor junior staff, as well as support their professional development.

You will need to demonstrate relevant technical and market knowledge and experience of working on projects for the private and public sectors. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Requirements:

  • Proven project management and business development capabilities, including proposal writing
  • Knowledge of the UK transport planning industry and the UK planning system
  • Extensive experience in preparing transport assessments, travel plans, transport chapters for environmental statements, etc.
  • Self-motivation and capability to undertake specific tasks with minimum supervision
  • Ability to manage own time to meet project deadlines
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills
  • Experience of delivering technically challenging projects
  • Experience of liaising/negotiating with public and private sector clients
  • Understanding of current design guides such as Manual for Streets and DMRB
  • Knowledge of the application of junction modelling software
  • Public inquiry and examination in public experience would be beneficial

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree or Masters in a relevant subject (e.g. transport planning, civil engineering, geography)
