As Head of Tax, you will be responsible for developing and implementing tax strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives. The role requires a comprehensive knowledge of UK tax legislation, including Corporate Tax, VAT, Employment, and CIS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all tax-related matters, including Corporate Tax, VAT, Employment taxes, and CIS.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of all tax returns and payments.
  • Identify, assess, and manage tax risks across the organization.
  • Implement and maintain robust tax control frameworks.
  • Support the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) certification process.
  • Perform tax computations and analysis.
  • Provide expert advice on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and optimise the company's tax position.
  • Manage relationships with HMRC, ensuring open and transparent communication.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and manage their engagements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and operations teams.

Requirements:

  • Fully ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified with at least 3 years post-qualification experience in tax, including in a senior role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK tax legislation, including Corporate Tax, VAT, Employment, and CIS.
  • Passionate about Tax, with a mindset of continuous learning to stay updated on Tax laws and industry best practices.
  • Proven self-starter with strong foundational knowledge and a proactive approach.
  • Technically very strong but commercially aware and solution-oriented.
  • Strong communicator able to convey complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Demonstrable ability to switch between the detail and bigger picture.
  • Experience with tax technology and automation tools is highly desirable.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a tax professional to make a significant impact on the financial strategy and compliance of the business. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping their role, the tax function, and contributing to the company's overall success.

What We Offer:

Base salary up to £70,000 p.a. with bonus, pension, PMI, 6x life cover, and various other benefits. Hybrid working is available with 2-3 days per week required in Wolverhampton.
