Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fixed-term position working within the outpatient eating disorder service, offering an exciting opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in assessing and managing eating disorders.

About the Role

The post holder will work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders, supported by a specialist multidisciplinary team. Your key responsibilities will include providing psychiatric and medical assessments of adults with eating disorders, prescribing and monitoring medication, and supporting delivery of services according to NICE guidelines and policies.

You will undertake physical examinations, order investigations as necessary, and provide psychiatric input including assessment and treatment of comorbid mental health disorders. The role requires liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients, as well as consultation with other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding risk management.

Clinical Duties
  • To provide psychiatric and medical assessments of adults referred to the eating disorder service.
  • To prescribe and monitor medication, and support delivery of services according to NICE guidelines and policies.
  • To undertake physical examinations and order investigations as necessary.
  • To provide psychiatric input, including assessment and treatment of comorbid mental health disorders.
  • To liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients.
  • To consult with other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding risk management.
Salary and Benefits

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in psychiatry and a passion for working with individuals with eating disorders. You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A good understanding of Clinical Governance requirements and evidence-based practice is essential.
