About the Role

Achieving for Children is seeking a qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioner or Child Wellbeing Practitioner to join our Richmond Mental Health Support Team. The successful candidate will work within a service providing a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing, engaging in preventative work and offering low-intensity early interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and/or behavioural difficulties.

The post holder will work with children, young people of all ages and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, utilizing interpreters when necessary and being committed to equal opportunities. They will be part of a team of clinicians who can provide access to clinical supervision, peer supervision, line management, and CPD.

About You

We are looking for a successful candidate with the following qualities:

  • Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1-year 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' course or Child Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) course
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties, including anxiety disorders and affective (mood) disorders
  • Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families, e.g., guided self-help and time-limited therapy
  • Experience of a range of assessment tools and frameworks to evaluate progress and outcomes for children and young people
  • Ability to carry out mental health assessments of children and young people and conduct 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children and families
  • Ability to conduct group parenting programmes
  • Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group
  • Ability to make an assessment of risk, record and communicate it appropriately, and take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk
  • Good IT skills, including the use of database or spreadsheet packages
