Job Title: Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at Public Sector Resourcing. As a Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing the production process of the Annual Report and Accounts (ARA) and the annual audit process.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the production of financial statements, including notes to the accounts, commissioning and collating information required for the accounts.
  • Contribute to the production of financial information for consolidation in departmental accounts.
  • Contribute to the production of the Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) submission.
  • Liaise with the National Audit Office during external audit of the ARA, ensuring a good working relationship, excellent communication, and delivery of on-time and accurate financial and other information.
  • Liaise with colleagues throughout the department to obtain audit evidence, including review to ensure the quality and ease of use of the evidence provided to the NAO.
  • Provide technical accounting advice, acting as a subject matter expert on the Financial Reporting Manual (FReM), Managing Public Money, Consolidated Budgeting Guidance, and Cabinet Office spending controls.
  • Identify and ensure appropriate management of risks to delivery.
  • Manage and coach staff within the Financial Accounting CoE and ensure that all professional training and development requirements are met.
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified with CCAB, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • Ability to react to change and manage emerging priorities to tight deadlines, respond to varying situations in a professional manner.
  • Empower their team to make decisions and have open conversations to lead improvement.
  • Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, e.g., Strategic Finance, Finance Business Partners, Network Bodies, External Audit.
  • Ability to manage a team and coach staff ensuring all professional training and development requirements are met.
  • Public sector experience.
