About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and creative Occupational Therapist to lead our Occupational Therapy and Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Primary Teams in Tower Hamlets. The successful candidate will be part of a stimulating and vibrant MDT where new ideas and innovative practice are welcomed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership within the Children's Community therapy team, responsible for the day-to-day operational, managerial, clinical, and Occupational Therapy professional delivery of the service.
  • Lead the integrated Primary Team in line with service objectives, while continuing to have a clinical workload.
  • Work closely with therapy staff and our wider partners in the borough to achieve service objectives.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with children in a community setting, including special or mainstream schools.
  • Experience of using research and evidence-based practice to support families.
  • Experience of working with children with a range of developmental difficulties and their families.
  • Experience of working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds and home languages.
  • Experience of audit, quality improvement, and service development, including developing protocols and guidelines.
  • Experience of line managing colleagues and leading a team.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of managing change and project management with multiple stakeholders.
  • Involvement in research projects.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Self-motivated and excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent diplomacy, problem-solving, and negotiating skills.
  • Clinical skills across a range of developmental difficulties.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, using initiative and own judgement when dealing with issues and problems.
  • The ability to coach others to improve their practice.
  • Digital literacy skills equivalent to Level 2 across all domains in the NHS Health and Care Digital Capabilities Framework.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Occupational Therapist.
  • Coaching qualification.
  • Masters-level qualification (desirable).
