Job Title: Legal Counsel, Real Estate, AWS

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented commercial real estate lawyer to fill the position of Legal Counsel – Real Estate supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within the cloud computing and service industry.


We are looking for a lawyer with experience in drafting and negotiating contracts in English, who can provide legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a daily basis. The successful candidate will have transactional drafting and negotiating responsibilities on deals, and will be responsible for supporting AWS's worldwide data center expansion through land acquisitions and leasing.


The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once. They will also be enthusiastic, enjoy working hard, and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.


This position is located in our London office, but we are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: London, GBR.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support AWS's worldwide data center expansion through land acquisitions and leasing
  • Provide legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a daily basis
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate agreements and leases
  • Manage outside counsel and advise internal business clients
  • Develop, implement, and manage process improvements across the team
  • Resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships
  • Handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries
Requirements:
  • A qualified lawyer with at least five years of post-qualification legal experience as a real estate lawyer
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating contracts in English
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
