GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Worker to join their team at a SEMH school in Portsmouth.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have learning difficulties and complex needs. They will be able to provide 1:1 support for children and support with small group activities. The successful candidate will have a positive and engaging personality, be able to work in a challenging setting with patience and understanding, and have knowledge of PECS or Makaton.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for children with autism and complex needs
- Support with small group activities and social interactions
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with children who have learning difficulties and complex needs
- Positive and engaging personality
- Ability to work in a challenging setting with patience and understanding
- Knowledge of PECS or Makaton
- Right to work in the UK
- Up-to-date CV with two relevant references
- DBS registered to the update service or willing to apply for one
