About the Role

The Prevention Lead Officer - Road Safety role is a critical position within our organization, responsible for responding to challenging and changing community road risk in a creative and proactive manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to reducing deaths and serious injuries caused by preventable road traffic incidents in our service area through targeted prevention activities.
  • Support the development and delivery of evidence-led road safety prevention interventions, including designing, creating, and evaluating campaigns that target high-risk groups.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote and deliver national and local road safety reduction activities, utilizing a data-led approach.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with road safety partners, colleagues, and community groups to ensure inclusive and targeted road safety strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging road safety risks and issues, applying a 'Safe Systems Approach' to inform prevention activities.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and support to staff, partners, and regional/national road safety professionals on road safety matters.
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of Prevention Officers, Road Safety Champions, and advocate staff, ensuring the delivery of road safety prevention duties across the service area.
  • Monitor the performance of the road safety team, delivering quality assurance and evaluation processes to inform future delivery and direction.
Requirements
  • Experience in designing, promoting, delivering, evaluating, and supporting national and local behavior change interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information clearly and influence others.
  • Knowledge of NFCC Road Safety and national road safety context, as well as in-depth knowledge of risk reduction intervention design and effective use of behavior change.
