Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our leadership team as a Deputy Director of Service Operations. This role will involve monitoring and forecasting demand and capacity, ensuring patient access issues are identified and resolved promptly.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and operational management skills to support multiple administrative teams, escalating to the Operational Services Managers where appropriate and deputising for them.

Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the organisation and management of administration staff within the service
  • Line management, including staff performance, staffing issues, and recruitment
  • Lead the effective planning and recruitment of staff to meet access, activity, and quality targets
  • Oversee junior doctors, including rota management, annual leave, and study leave approvals
  • Work with clinical teams to manage changes required to meet demands
  • Lead quality initiatives across all services in line with local and national priorities
  • Support the recruitment process of clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Arrange and lead regular departmental meetings, including governance meetings
  • Liaise regularly with consultants, clinicians, and OSMs to ensure relationships are built
  • Support the preparation of business and operational plans
  • Responsible for PALS enquiries and complaints

Person Specification
  • Degree, professional qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in managing admin services within the NHS
  • Management or leadership qualification

  • Experience of successfully challenging behavior
  • Experience of critical analysis and interpretation of complex data
  • Proven track record of delivering performance to deadlines

  • Experience in use of demand and capacity tools
