Job Description

We are seeking an Employment Relations Specialist to join our HR team on a permanent basis, covering the South West of England region.


This field-based role involves providing expert guidance and support to managers across various levels of the business.


The key responsibilities include:



  • Providing proactive and professional HR advisory services via phone and email
  • Offering advice and guidance on complex employment matters, prioritizing the best outcomes for both the business and employees
  • SUPPORTING managers in day-to-day case management of serious or complex employment issues, considering commercial constraints and legal frameworks
  • Managing a portfolio of cases, scheduling and prioritizing activities based on case needs and applicable deadlines or timescales
  • Ensuring good employment practices through clear advice and guidance aligned with Iceland's HR policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Adopting a pragmatic approach in offering solutions to managers, recognizing legal and regulatory requirements
  • Coaching managers in aspects of people management, including communication, decision making, fairness, consistency, and application
  • Reviewing and preparing letters/documents for formal hearings and providing feedback as needed
  • Maintaining accurate records of case management details on the Case Management System and driving cases to conclusion

Requirements and Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A proven track record of managing complex HR cases
  • Comprehensive up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and legislation, and its implications for employers
  • Confident communication with people at all levels, with a clear, engaging, coaching, and collaborative style
  • Strong partnership working with various stakeholders
  • CIPD qualified (Level 7) is ideal
  • Experience applying a commercial and pragmatic approach to providing HR risk-based solutions to difficult issues
  • Ability to work flexibly in an agile way to meet deadlines and respond positively to feedback
  • Capacity to build capability within a coaching framework
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Salary and Benefits


The estimated annual salary for this role is £40,000-£55,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
