Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join our dynamic team within the Acute Medical Floor at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing administrative support to the ward team, including answering the telephone, filing, using the Care Flow system, and booking appointments.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving and welcoming new patients onto the ward, checking their records and ensuring notes are in order.
  • Answering the telephone and responding to questions or requests as appropriate.
  • Requesting the services of allied healthcare professionals as requested by nursing staff.
  • Notifying Pathology of urgent blood specimens when requested by nursing staff.
  • Requesting and collecting notes and x-rays from various departments.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be a pivotal member of the ward team, working closely with doctors, nurses, and other administrative staff to provide a high standard of service to patients and relatives.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and experience of using the Care Flow system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
