Fostering Independent Reviewing Officer

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our team as a Fostering Independent Reviewing Officer. In this role, you will provide strategic advice and oversight of the needs of the fostering service, developing links with the Foster Carer Forum to build relationships and contribute to the development of our foster carers.

You will work closely with the IROs for Children We Look After to understand the needs of the children who our foster carers are taking care of. Your role will involve undertaking foster carer annual household reviews and producing high-quality reports that contribute to the development of our foster carers and fostering service.

About the Role

As a Fostering IRO, you will be responsible for reviewing the quality of oversight from our fostering service and hearing feedback from children, young people, and other professionals. You will also be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of Children Act 1989 and 2004, Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards, care planning legislation, and reviewing officer regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake foster carer annual household reviews
  • Produce high-quality reports that contribute to the development of our foster carers and fostering service
  • Review the quality of oversight from our fostering service
  • Hear feedback from children, young people, and other professionals
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant legislation and regulations

Requirements

  • Qualified social worker with experience of working with Children We Look After and Fostering
  • Experience of social work practice leadership
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Awareness of current national policy, evidence-based research, and best practice
