Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant at Teaching Personnel. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in promoting the learning and personal development of students, enabling them to make the most of educational opportunities.
  • Aid students in learning effectively in group situations and individually, by clarifying instructions, ensuring equipment and materials are used, and motivating and encouraging students as needed.
  • Support students in weaker areas, such as speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting/presentation.
  • Liaise with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to contribute to personal education plans (PEPs) and implement agreed behavior management strategies.
  • Establish supportive relationships with students and promote their acceptance and inclusion in the classroom.
  • Monitor students' responses to learning activities and modify or adapt them as agreed with the teacher to achieve intended learning outcomes.
  • Provide regular feedback on students' learning and behavior to teachers and SENCOs.
  • Support students in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom.
  • Contribute to reviews of students' progress as appropriate.
  • Comply with legal and organizational requirements for maintaining the health, safety, and security of yourself and others in the learning environment.
  • Participate in training activities offered by the school to further knowledge and skills in working with students with specific learning difficulties.
  • Support break and lunchtime supervision in accordance with the school rota.
  • Accompany teachers and students on educational visits.
  • Contribute positively and effectively to the Every Child Matters Agenda.
Requirements
  • A minimum qualification of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • An understanding of the challenges of dealing with students who may have Emotional, Behavioural or Social issues.
  • Ability to motivate and support students in their learning and personal development.
  • Ability to work as part of a close team.
