About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join our team in Hull. As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with additional needs, such as social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit, Special Educational Needs School, or an Alternative Provision. You will be knowledgeable about Special Educational Needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, Learning Difficulties, and ADHD. Your expertise in managing behaviour linked to additional needs and using verbal de-escalation techniques will be invaluable in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of the class teacher, SENCO, or a member of the provisions Senior Management Team to carry out work and tasks set by the teacher.
  • Support diverse groups of pupils with a range of complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
  • Accompany other staff on school visits and in other activities outside of the classroom and have responsibility for specific pupils or small groups as directed by the teacher.
  • Monitor and respond to pupil learning and behaviour at all times by adjusting supervised activities.
  • Monitor and respond to pupils' personal needs and communication.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school.
  • Contribute to the planning and review of a differentiated curriculum and individual education plans and individual behaviour plans.
Requirements
  • Experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit, Special Educational Needs School, or an Alternative Provision.
  • Knowledge of Special Educational Needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, Learning Difficulties, and ADHD.
  • Expertise in managing behaviour linked to additional needs and using verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Availability Monday to Friday, Term Time Only.
  • Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for a new one via GSL Education.
