SEN Specialist Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist Teacher to join our team at an independent specialist day school in Wakefield, rated Outstanding by Ofsted. This school provides high-quality education to children and young people facing significant challenges, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As a Teacher at this school, you will support the learning and development of students with ASD and SEMH needs, helping them build their abilities and self-esteem. You will work alongside top-notch colleagues in well-resourced environments, receiving comprehensive support from in-house psychologists, teaching assistants, and therapy professionals.
The role requires resilience and dedication, but your efforts will be rewarded by the small victories you achieve. The students come from diverse backgrounds and have varied needs, and the school's workforce reflects this diversity.
Your Responsibilities
- Create a safe and supportive classroom environment
- Adapt lessons to cater to students' individual needs
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
About You
We are looking for an outstanding practitioner who can create a positive impact on students' lives. Your skills and qualifications include:
- Previous teaching experience and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- An ability to relate your teaching to each pupil and build strong relationships
- Enthusiasm and expertise to contribute to the growth of your department
The salary for this role is £65,000 - £85,000 per year, depending on experience.
