We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Mental Health Support Teams in schools and colleges as a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP). This exciting opportunity will provide the successful candidate with the chance to develop their skills and knowledge in delivering brief evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems.
The EMHP role is an integral part of the national Children and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) initiative, which aims to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people.
As a Trainee EMHP, you will work under the supervision of your employing NHS Trust to gain experience in providing one-to-one brief evidence-based interventions for children and young people in educational settings. You will also be trained in providing support to educational settings with Whole School Approaches, designed to improve emotional well-being and mental health more broadly in the school.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver brief evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems.
- Work under the supervision of your employing NHS Trust to gain experience in providing one-to-one interventions.
- Provide support to educational settings with Whole School Approaches.
We are looking for individuals who possess a proven record of previous academic attainment, good solid basic literacy and numeracy qualifications at a minimum of level 2, and knowledge of children and young people gained through academic study in child development, child wellbeing or mental health. You should also have a working knowledge of the whole school approach to mental health and be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.
