We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatrician Consultant to join our team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our geriatric medicine services.
Key Responsibilities- Service Development: Support and further develop the geriatric service, including the consolidation of current inpatient clinical services for older people.
- Clinical Responsibilities: Provide high-quality healthcare for older patients referred for diagnosis and treatment, respond to inpatient and outpatient referrals from other specialties, and provide prompt advice for General Practitioners.
- Education and Training: Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise and teach Medical Students, and contribute to the development of clinical and organisational protocols and guidelines.
- Research and Audit: Participate in clinical audit, implement audit findings as appropriate, and support NIHR funded research.
- Leadership and Management: Lead daily board rounds and ward rounds on relevant wards, contribute to the development of the Annual Service Plan for the Directorate and Division, and participate in the strategic planning of the service.
- Qualifications: MBBS or equivalent, MRCP or equivalent, full registration with the GMC, and a licence to practise.
- Training and Experience: Broad-based training and wide experience of acute and general medicine, broad-based training in Geriatric Medicine, and a special interest within Geriatric Medicine.
- Clinical Experience: Understanding of the principles of clinical governance and clinical risk, and experience of audit.
- Teaching Experience: Wide experience of, and strong commitment to, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Management and Administrative Experience: Knowledge of research methodology and clinical trials.
