Usher Operations Coordinator

We are looking for a highly skilled Court Usher to join our team at Aylesbury Courts. As an essential first point of contact for all court users involved in hearings, you will have regular contact with the judiciary, assisting administrative staff with the smooth flow of court work. You will meet members of the public and their legal representatives, prepare court/hearing rooms, and complete documentation, ensuring the court runs smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, you will carry out general clerical work as required to support the work of HMCTS.
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment, where they will be able to utilize their skills and experience to contribute to the efficient operation of the court. They will be responsible for providing administrative support, managing post, maintaining court rooms, carrying out data entry and recording, operating equipment, and handling telephone enquiries.
Responsibilities Include:
- Administrative Support: Assisting judiciary and clerks with collecting and delivering files and bundles, preparing court/hearing rooms, and completing documentation.
- Post Management: Opening, sorting, distributing, and dispatching post as required.
- Court Room Maintenance: Ensuring court rooms are supplied against requirements for relevant forms and stationery.
- Data Entry and Recording: Resulting, checking accuracy and completeness against guidelines or a proforma, and performing straightforward money handling tasks.
- Equipment Operation: Managing office and court equipment, including computers, fax machines, scanners, photocopiers, switchboards, franking machines, messaging equipment, tape, and video recorders etc.
- Telephone Enquiries: Answering standard telephone calls.
Estimated Salary: £44 per hour.
