Clinical Nurse Mentor

In accordance with Island Health's Vision, Purpose, and Values, the Clinical Nurse Mentor role prioritizes patient and staff safety by continuously improving quality and safety in all aspects of the position. Reporting to a Manager in Professional Practice & Learning, this experienced clinical mentor, resource, and champion delivers excellent client care to nurses and other team members. Working closely with nurse educators, they provide rapid clinical mentorship and practice support for nursing staff, using their clinical skills to advise and instruct colleagues.
Education, Training and Experience
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. Three years of recent, related nursing experience in the designated clinical practice area, including experience mentoring nursing staff and leadership training or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle may be required.
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client-centered model of care. Ability to apply adult learning principles, relevant clinical practice standards and care pathways, and knowledge of other healthcare disciplines. Demonstrated ability to think critically in patient care and promote a supportive learning environment, engaging in continuous quality improvement. Proficient in computerized client care information systems and software applications.
