We are seeking a highly skilled Back End Developer to join our team at esure Group. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will play a crucial role in designing, crafting, and supporting new technical products and services to drive our business forward.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on greenfield projects, collaborate with a high-performing Agile team, and contribute to the shaping and development of esure's future.
Key Responsibilities- Design and construct digital and technical products, leveraging your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
- Collaborate with the team to set the technical direction for supported products and drive the enterprise Agile and transformation journey.
- Engage in greenfield development, constructing internal and external APIs from the ground up, and establishing a robust automated test suite for seamless integration into a continuous deployment environment.
- Provide 2nd line support for applications and platforms, occasionally beyond regular office hours, and identify areas for technical product improvement and tackle opportunities for reducing technical debt.
- Challenge existing processes to improve departmental efficiency and ways of working, and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Developer experience in scaled Agile, with delivery partners and 3rd party applications.
- Strong technical expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices, with proficiency in Spring Boot and Apache Kafka experience desirable.
- Expertise in microservices, database programming, event streaming, and queueing technologies in a cloud-based environment.
- Effective communication of technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and experience working on technical projects within cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge and practice of code quality techniques like continuous integration, unit testing, and peer reviews, and rapid research and adaptation to new programming tools and techniques.
- Experience in building and scaling high-traffic websites or mission-critical line-of-business systems, and automated integration and acceptance testing experience, preferably with a BDD framework.
