Job Description

Martin Luther King Education Search is seeking an experienced Child Welfare Manager to join our team in London and Essex.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Vice Principal for Safeguarding across all schools in Lambeth and Chelmsford. The role includes safeguarding, liaison with external agencies, responding to concerns, compiling reports, and attending meetings.

About the Role
  • This leadership position is a full-time role focused on maintaining a consistently robust and effective safeguarding culture across our independent special schools.
  • The Child Welfare Manager will work closely with the Senior Vice Principal to oversee risk assessments, medication, and care plans for identified pupils.
  • The role also involves organising and leading staff training, which may include planning and delivering workshops.
Key Responsibilities

The CWL will be responsible for:

  • Supporting with staff inductions and training
  • Oversight of all pupils who are CP/CIN/CLA
  • Attending conferences and meetings and leading on safeguarding concerns and referrals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Successful experience as a leader in a challenging setting (preferably with SEMH)
  • Outstanding experience as a D/DSL and leader (preferably in a school/social setting)
  • Fully-qualified social worker / DSL-level safeguarding training
  • At least a good first degree in or related to a core subject
  • Secure knowledge and experience of statutory requirements, including the independent school standards
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications
