Job Summary
McLaren Racing is seeking a highly skilled Database Developer to join our team. As a key member of our data engineering group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance data systems that drive business outcomes.

About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned professional with expertise in database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, and MongoDB. Your strong understanding of relational databases and ability to create and optimize data models, indexes, and stored procedures will be crucial in building performant and scalable data systems. Experience with NoSQL, streaming, graph, timeseries, or edge databases such as Cassandra, MongoDB, EventStore, Kafka, Neo4J, RethinkDB, or InfluxDB is also highly desirable.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data pipelines (ETL/ELT/streaming) for robust data ingestion, transformation, and distribution, ensuring access to reliable data for analysis and decision-making.
  • Maintain database platforms and infrastructure including monitoring, alerting, and issue resolution, ensuring data privacy and security across all data architecture designs.
  • Work with software engineering team members to evaluate various database technology options and choose the right solution to solve a problem.

Requirements
  • Strong understanding of relational database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, or Postgres.
  • Ability to create and optimize data models, indexes, stored procedures, implement strong security, and build performant and scalable data systems.
  • Experience with NoSQL, streaming, graph, timeseries, or edge databases such as Cassandra, MongoDB, EventStore, Kafka, Neo4J, RethinkDB, or InfluxDB.
  • Understanding of binary encoding and compression approaches for complex data structures and communication over the network.
  • Deep experience in maintaining database platforms and infrastructure including monitoring, alerting, and issue resolution.
  • Awareness of data security practices, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure data privacy and security across all data architecture designs.
