Job Description

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our team as Chief Operating Officer. As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will be responsible for leading our operations to enhance the pace at which we deliver on our mission.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • **Operational Excellence**
    • Ensure operational delivery is adaptable, flexible, efficient, and integrated across all functional divisions.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational performance and efficiency.
  • **Leadership and Governance**
    • Chair the Wellcome Operations Committee and serve on other external/internal committees and Boards as determined by the CEO.
    • Provide key leadership support to the CEO and act as a key leadership link with the Wellcome Board of Governors and its sub-committees.
  • **Transformation and Change**
    • Lead our organisation transformation programme to enhance the pace at which we deliver on our mission.
    • Develop and implement strategies to drive cultural change and embed our values across the organisation.

**Requirements**

  • Proven track record of leading operational excellence and transformation programmes.
  • Strong leadership and governance skills, with experience of chairing committees and boards.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to improve operational performance and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
