About the Role

National Energy System Operator (NESO) is seeking a highly skilled Market Development Lead to join their team. As a key member of the Market Change Delivery team, you will play a crucial role in driving the development and delivery of new markets to procure balancing services, particularly focusing on reactive services or/and stability services.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a new TechOps environment, combining business and IT functions. You will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of new markets, making recommendations on operability solutions, and producing analysis to support this. Your work will impact system security, short-term consumer value, and long-term consumer value.

About the Company

NESO is an independent body responsible for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system. As a public corporation, NESO is licensed and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable, and secure way for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the development and delivery of new markets to procure balancing services, especially focusing on reactive service or/and stability services.
  • Make recommendations on operability solutions and produce analysis to support this, considering impact on system security, short-term consumer value, and long-term consumer value.
  • Work within a virtual team to design, develop, and deliver the new market, interfacing with internal SMEs, consultancies, and IT department as required to ensure suitable solutions are delivered for the market and NGESO.
What We Offer

As a Market Development Lead at NESO, you will receive a competitive salary between £58,000-£74,000 p.a., a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
