Job Summary

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Scientist to lead the Clinical Chemistry section within the Blood Sciences Department. As a Senior BMS/Clinical Scientist Section Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the section, ensuring the provision of a high-quality laboratory service that meets the required standards.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of the service within the Blood Sciences Department. As a Clinical Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting a diverse range of highly specialized and diagnostic techniques, including sample analysis, technical validation, interpretation, and reporting of results. You will also be responsible for method evaluation, staff development, and ensuring the efficient management of the assigned section of the laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Chemistry section
  • Conduct a diverse range of highly specialized and diagnostic techniques
  • Ensure the provision of a high-quality laboratory service that meets the required standards
  • Manage the assigned section of the laboratory, including staff development and method evaluation
  • Participate in the development of the service within the Blood Sciences Department
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to organize and motivate staff. You should be HCPC registered and have a higher-level qualification to MSc. Demonstrable experience commensurate with the grade of the post is essential, and a further management or risk/quality qualification would be advantageous.
