Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our specialist alternative provision in Netley. Our school provides education for students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school or have medical/mental health needs that prevent them from accessing their mainstream place.

The ideal candidate will be a patient and reliable individual who can work well in a team. They will be proactive in meeting students' needs, have 1:1 experience with children with SEN/SEMH, and be able to empathise with their pupils and set a good example.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the teaching and learning of SEN pupils across the school, working with struggling pupils or those who have become stifled by the curriculum.
  • Help students meet their potential through smaller booster groups and 1:1 sessions.
  • Support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Work closely with the SENCO to monitor and advance developments in both academic and social areas.

Contract Details:

  • Location: Netley
  • Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
  • Type of work: Group and One to One (1:1) sessions
  • Contract type: Temp to Perm
  • Full-time/part-time
  • Minimum rate of pay: £ to £95 per day
  • Hours: 8:30 – 15:30

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the right to work in the UK, an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years, and a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
