Cloud Operations Director

About the Role:

UnitedHealth Group is a global healthcare leader, and we're seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Cloud Operations Director. This role will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our Enterprise Imaging cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers and SREs to achieve strategic goals and provide direction and motivation.
  • Ensure cloud environments and application reliability, performance, and compliance by defining and implementing effective cloud infrastructure, services, and applications.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and test systems and procedures for best practice Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR).
  • Drive and implement automated operations, actively using and suggesting improvements for continuous delivery toolset.
  • Ensure secure and managed access to production and staging environments.
  • Proactively collaborate with various operational teams on defining SLAs, aligning on processes, tools, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Excellent leadership and management skills with emphasis on mentoring, motivating, and driving a large team to success.
  • Exceptional critical and highly analytical thinking skills; ability to decompose complex problems, prioritize issues, and implement sensible solutions.
  • Proficient experience managing outages, customer escalations, crisis management, and other similar circumstances.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity methodology such as threat modeling, security risk analysis, vulnerability management.
  • Proven experience in software development and design.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure includes compute, networking, storage, and other cloud services.
  • Solid foundation in Linux/Windows operating systems and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure includes switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, IDS, IPS, Proxy, etc...
  • Proficient with DevOps tools and environments such as Jenkins, Git, GitLab, Ansible, Terraform or similar.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with development & scripting languages such as Go, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar.
  • Experience with centralized logging services such as StackDriver, ELK, DataDog, Splunk.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like StackDriver, NewRelic, Graphite, Nagios, Zabbix.
