About the Role

UnitedHealth Group is a global leader in healthcare, and we're seeking a highly skilled Director of Cloud Operations to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our Enterprise Imaging cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers and SREs to achieve strategic goals and objectives.
  • Ensure cloud environments and application reliability, performance, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement effective cloud infrastructure, services, and applications monitoring and emergency alerting.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and test systems and procedures for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR).
  • Drive and implement automated operations, utilizing continuous delivery toolsets.
  • Ensure secure and managed access to production and staging environments.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to define SLAs, align on processes, tools, and procedures, and ensure compliance with medical device, privacy, and security regulations.
  • Forecast and monitor cloud resources utilization and associated cost.
Requirements
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with a focus on mentoring, motivating, and driving a large team to success.
  • Exceptional critical and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to decompose complex problems, prioritize issues, and implement sensible solutions.
  • Proficient experience managing outages, customer escalations, crisis management, and other similar circumstances.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity methodology, including threat modeling, security risk analysis, and vulnerability management.
  • Proven experience in software development and design, with a strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, and other cloud services.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, IDS, IPS, Proxy, etc.
  • Proficient with DevOps tools and environments, such as Jenkins, Git, GitLab, Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with development and scripting languages, such as Go, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
  • Experience with centralized logging services, such as StackDriver, ELK, DataDog, Splunk.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, like StackDriver, NewRelic, Graphite, Nagios, Zabbix.
