Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Primary Integrated Community Services (PICS) in a key role that will contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care in our Primary Care Network (PCN).
The successful candidate will work closely with our Clinical Pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective medicines use, promote patient safety, and improve health outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake patient-facing and patient-supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use, through shared decision-making conversations.
- Carry out medicines optimisation tasks, including effective medicine administration, supporting medication reviews, and medicine reconciliation.
- Support the Clinical Pharmacists in Structured Medication Review, including organising necessary monitoring tests prior to SMR.
- Provide expertise to address both public health and social care needs of patients, including lifestyle advice, service information, and tackling local health inequalities.
- Manage shared care protocols and liaise with Clinical Pharmacists for more complex patients.
- Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing locally.
- Promote Electronic Repeat Dispensing to patients.
- Promote online ordering through the NHS App.
- Support practice reception teams in streamlining prescription requests, allowing GPs and Clinical Pharmacists to review more clinically complex requests.
- Attend weekly Care Home Ward Rounds with GPs, face-to-face and virtually.
Requirements
- General Pharmaceutical Council professional registration.
- Good clinical knowledge, including terminology, and an understanding of pharmacy law, ethics, and current legislation.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
