The Composite Manufacturing Engineer role at Bird Bellows supports the new production Introduction (NPI) Team through core activities such as defining and estimating manufacturing processes for new designs, defining tooling requirements, and managing development test units to prove manufacturing concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and cost estimate manufacturing processes for new designs.
  • Define tooling requirements.
  • Produce job cards and work instructions.
  • Manage development test units to prove manufacturing concepts.
  • Produce process flow maps and PFMEA's to support NPI stage reviews.
  • Resolve production issues.
  • Support the NPI team by driving and reporting manufacturing activities of the project plan.
  • Manage production risks using Process Failure Mode and Effects analysis.

Requirements

  • Experience of composite manufacturing processes, primarily oven cured pre-preg parts in a highly regulated industry.
  • Leading process development activities for new parts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all business levels, including customer liaison.
