Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Composite Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Bird Bellows. As a key member of our NPI team, you will play a critical role in supporting the introduction of new production processes and ensuring the successful launch of new products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for new designs, including cost estimation and tooling requirements.
  • Produce job cards and work instructions to ensure efficient production.
  • Manage development test units to prove manufacturing concepts and resolve production issues.
  • Collaborate with the NPI team to develop and drive manufacturing activities, including process flow maps and PFMEA's.
  • Support the team by developing and reporting manufacturing activities, and managing production risks using tools like Process Failure Mode and Effects analysis.
Requirements
  • Experience in composite manufacturing processes, particularly oven-cured pre-preg parts in a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in process development and customer liaison.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work at all business levels.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Manufacturing and assembly work experience.
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • ONC Engineering qualification or equivalent.
Job Related Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of composite layup and manufacturing processes.
