Job Title: Senior/Principal Digital Electronics Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Digital Electronics Engineer to join our team at Leonardo in Newcastle. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-speed digital electronics systems and products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-speed digital printed circuit boards using the latest FPGA, microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
  • Support the full hardware lifecycle, from requirements analysis to integration with the target system, and delivery to customers.
  • Document and record work products, maintain configuration management, and provide plans and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of engineers to solve complex integration problems on high-speed systems.
  • Analyze system-level requirements documents and apply them to hardware designs.
  • Design high-speed serial communication links and have knowledge of associated protocols and architectures.
  • Integrate hardware, firmware, and software components of microprocessor-based designs onto hardware platforms.
  • Apply a structured hardware process to the full design lifecycle.
  • Debug, test, and verify new designs, and support their commissioning and integration into the target system.
  • Liaise with suppliers of key components and assemblies.
  • Communicate effectively across different disciplines, both verbally and in written form.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to resolve technical issues.
  • Schedule work and manage time in accordance with project timescales and budgets.
