Job Title: Senior/Principal Digital Electronics Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Digital Electronics Engineer to join our team at Leonardo in Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-speed digital printed circuit boards using the latest FPGA, microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
  • Support the full hardware lifecycle, from requirements analysis to integration with the target system, and ensure timely delivery to customers.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of work products, including configuration management and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of engineers to resolve complex integration problems on large systems.
  • Analyze system-level requirements documents and apply them to hardware designs.
  • Design high-speed serial communication links and have knowledge of associated protocols and architectures.
  • Integrate hardware, firmware, and software components of microprocessor-based designs onto hardware platforms.
  • Apply a structured hardware process to the full design lifecycle, ensuring methodical debugging, testing, and verification of new designs.
  • Liaise with suppliers of key components and assemblies.
  • Effectively communicate across different disciplines, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to resolve technical issues and manage time to meet project deadlines and budgets.
