Job Title: School Caretaker/Handyman

We are seeking an experienced and skilled School Caretaker/Handyman to join our team at GSL Education. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our school premises, maintaining a safe and well-maintained environment for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Opening and closing the building, ensuring the site is safe and secure
  • Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
  • Checking heating, lighting, and alarm systems
  • Moving furniture and arranging chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies
  • Routine maintenance of school buildings and grounds, including minor repair work, cleaning, and grounds maintenance
  • Cleaning duties, including litter, bins, and toilets, and assistance with deep cleaning of classrooms and school pool/changing rooms
  • Porterage of heavy objects, such as stock, furniture, or equipment
  • Ensuring the school has sufficient stock of cleaning resources
  • Overseeing external contractors visiting the school site
  • Having a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials, and approved chemicals
  • Ensuring all Safeguarding Policies are always adhered to and raising any concerns in line with school policy
Requirements:
  • Holding a right to work within the UK
  • Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check, with the ability to be on the update service
  • Two educational references
