Job Summary

GSL Education is seeking an experienced School Caretaker/Handyman to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the school premises, maintaining a safe and well-maintained environment for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the site is safe and secure, opening and closing the building as required.
  • Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs, including checking heating, lighting, and alarm systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance of school buildings and grounds, including grounds maintenance and minor repair work.
  • Assist with cleaning duties, including litter, bins, and toilets, and deep cleaning of classrooms and school pool/changing rooms.
  • Porterage of heavy objects, such as stock, furniture, or equipment.
  • Ensure the school has sufficient stock of cleaning resources.
  • Oversee external contractors visiting the school site.
  • Have a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials, and approved chemicals.
  • Ensure all Safeguarding Policies are always adhered to and raise any concerns in line with school policy.
Requirements
  • Hold a right to work within the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check – Must be on the update service.
  • 2x Educational References are a must in order to clear your file with GSL.
