Acute Medicine Specialist

Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Physician to join our Acute Medicine Service at Northampton General Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in the Same Day Emergency Care Unit, acute medical take, and within our modern 66-bed Nye Bevan Acute Assessment Unit.

The post includes sessions providing comprehensive acute medical services alongside Consultant colleagues and the wider team, provision of reciprocal cover for periods of annual/study leave, and management of patients admitted under their care.

The Consultant's role is to assess and review patients, sometimes prior to junior review and sometimes afterwards, facilitating earlier 'senior' decision-making and high-quality clinical care.

All duties within Acute Medicine are rostered, and other clinical commitments must be timed so that they do not clash with these duties.

We value how we communicate and promote our vacancies to all communities and are a Defence positive trust, supporting our reservists, veterans, spouses, and partners.

We encourage applications from people who identify from all protected groups, especially those from BAME, Disabled, and LGBTQ+ backgrounds, as these are underrepresented in our hospitals.

We have active Networks that promote and support colleagues from all backgrounds, ensuring everyone feels supported and has a sense of belonging working for Kettering and Northampton General Hospitals.
