Job Title: Head Legal Cashier

Career Legal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Legal Cashier to join our client's accounts team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of cashiers, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the cashiering function, and adapting to the evolving needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of cashiers, providing training and development opportunities, and conducting regular appraisals.
  • Ensure that cashiering policies, procedures, and controls are in place and adapted as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure compliance with Solicitors' Accounts Rules.
  • Oversee the processing of client and office account payments, receipts, transfers, and direct debits.
  • Manage client balances, ensuring they are handled in accordance with Solicitors' Accounts Rules.
  • Process disbursements, including Counsel and Experts fees, foreign payments, and UK disbursements/recharges.
  • Manage operational Treasury Management, including cash flow forecasting and presenting in Treasury meetings.
  • Optimize operational level banking relationships, including interest returns on client funds and foreign exchange requirements.
  • Deal with setup and closure of bank accounts and deposit accounts as needed.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and operational teams.
  • Amend and close clients and matters on Aderant, in line with Law Society and anti-money laundering regulations.
  • Participate in Firmwide projects to review and improve processes across the Finance function.
Requirements:
  • Deep knowledge of Solicitors' Accounts Rules to ensure compliance.
  • Track record of identifying and delivering process improvements.
  • Experience of managing a team effectively.
  • Logical and methodical approach with excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and an approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance day-to-day and project tasks.
  • Knowledge of Aderant or equivalent practice management systems.
  • Proficiency in using Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Sound understanding of VAT recovery processes.
  • Understanding of billing and/or credit control is desirable but not essential.
