Job Summary:

Protocol Education is seeking a highly skilled Sensory Support Specialist to join our team in a temporary, full-time capacity. The successful candidate will provide sensory support to students with visual or hearing impairments in educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sensory support to students with visual or hearing impairments, adapting learning materials and teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other specialists to develop educational plans that cater to students' sensory requirements.
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' needs and progress, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Offer training and support to school staff on sensory issues, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of sensory impairments and their impact on learning.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans, utilizing knowledge of assistive technologies and resources.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in sensory support or special education, with a minimum of a Level 3 qualification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, working with students with sensory impairments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher level qualification in sensory support or special education.
  • Additional training in Braille or British Sign Language.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily in educational settings, such as schools and colleges.
  • May require travel between different locations within the region.
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work.
