Job Summary

RES is seeking an experienced Offshore Senior Authorised Person to join our High Voltage Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our high voltage electrical assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to health and safety requirements and maintain and improve safety standards
  • Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status at increasing voltages
  • Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with RES Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions
  • Prepare, issue, and cancel safety documents
  • Carry out switching, isolation, and earthing duties
  • Act as Control Engineer
  • Prepare switching schedules
  • Manage the interface between system boundaries with site and DNO/NGT as required
  • Produce and review method statements and risk assessments
  • Produce maintenance plans for HV equipment
  • Maintain the asset register
  • Manage and/or deliver planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
  • Produce final reports
  • Carry out basic protection testing on HV related equipment
  • Undertake troubleshooting and fault-finding on RES controlled plant/equipment
  • Carry out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training
  • Keep in close communication with HV Control and Project Lead SAP
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as DNO/NGT and asset owner
  • React to emergencies, site outages, and changing circumstances

Requirements

  • HV Safe Systems of Work knowledge
  • Knowledge of key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance
  • Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules
  • Detailed knowledge of HV equipment
  • HV maintenance practices including HSG230
  • Knowledge of working offshore

Desirable Qualifications

  • Earthing system installation and test
  • Protection system installation and test

Essential Skills

  • Strong approach to safe working practices
  • Able to operate and maintain various types of HV plant/equipment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good people skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities while ensuring safety and quality are maintained
  • Ability to identify problems, conduct analysis, and develop solutions

Desirable Skills

  • Able to use equipment for testing and fault finding on HV plant/equipment

Experience

  • SAP experience @ 132KV upwards
  • Operation and maintenance of HV equipment
  • Experience in fault finding on HV plant and equipment
  • Commissioning HV plant and equipment
  • Basic HV protection testing
  • Will have worked offshore

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules at 132KV
  • IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent
