Job Title: Senior Catastrophe Risk Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Catastrophe Risk Manager to lead our Catastrophe Risk team. As a key member of our Reinsurance and ILS department, you will define strategy and implement industry-leading catastrophe modeling, analytics, and research practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a global team focused on Catastrophe Risk & Research
  • Work with the Risk Leadership team to develop and execute our vision, goals, and strategy for catastrophe risk management
  • Design and implement research projects on catastrophe risk, including frequency and severity analysis for specific regions and perils
  • Collaborate with reinsurance underwriting teams, Hiscox Group Head of Catastrophe Research, and other Hiscox business unit catastrophe managers to coordinate research projects and provide scientific insights on active cat events
  • Present externally to Third-Party Capital partners, articulating our catastrophe management strategies and views on risk
  • Represent Hiscox Re & ILS at industry events, providing thought leadership on climate change and seasonal variability

Requirements:

  • PhD or Masters degree in a related or scientific field
  • In-depth knowledge of catastrophe reinsurance and ILS, including market structure, product types, and contract features
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset
  • Proficiency in R, Python, SQL, and other relevant technologies

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience
